Elliott's 9 month photos

When Elliott was born I bought a "milestone package" from Amy Hough Photography. Amy has come every 3 months since Elliott was 10 days old and documented his growth in pictures. I have loved working with her, and I will cherish the images she has captured of our sweet boy's first year of life. This was our second to last shoot for the package.  It's hard to believe in less than 3 months we'll be taking the final 1 year photos.  It seems like we were just inviting her and Jeff in for E's first shoot at 10 days old. Time really does fly when you're having fun!

If you want pictures of your sweet baby and you live in Central Arkansas give Amy a call. You won't be disappointed!

Insp. Monday: Peplum & Sparkles

Slacker me is sitting here posting my Inspiration Monday late, while my family yells at me to come carve pumpkins. And I really do want to carve my pumpkin, so let's make this quick, shall we?!

This week's inspiration is Ashley Madekwe, whom I've admittedly never heard of. I would LOVE to own her top, but since I don't and it's far too cold for that anyway I brought out my ruffly black peplum jacket and left the sparkle to my bow flats!

Oh! And this is my new hair!! A subtle-as-possible melt that my lovely sister did for me! She did an AMAZING job!! I LOVE it. (and I never ever change my hair or do anything risky with it) If you live in Utah County go see Kaity at Ella Bloom in Lindon. She's my talented little sis :)

Outfit Details:
Peplum jacket - Smith's Marketplace (ha!)
Tee shirt - Thrifted
Sheer top - Kohls
Jeans - Nordstrom Rack
Flats - The Children's Place (ha again!)

(those were some sort of embarrassing outfit details. LOL. Yes these are children's shoes, but the girls size 5 fits my size 7.5 feet!!)

pumpkin patch play date

On Friday, Elliott and I met up with our friends from Aqua Moms at the BoBrook Farms Pumpkin Patch.  Sarah's mom made each baby a monogramed pumpkin shirt to wear. It was a cold and rainy day, so the patch was muddy, and we didn't get to stay long, but seeing all the babies in their matching pumpkin shirts made it worth the trip.

I've loved watching these babies grow, as they grew in their Momma's bellies last year at our Aqua moms classes, and then following their growth this year when we get together every few months. I hope we can all come back again next year when the babies can run around and pet the animals.

Shop 'Til You Drop!

Hey all, I know I mentioned it the other day, but I thought I'd share a few pics from last Saturday's Event. (I'm borrowing these from Awkward Girls, hope you girls don't mind!) I REALLY slacked on taking photos and the one (yes ONE) I did have our waiter take at lunch ended up not including my face....

(Lauren & Madison of Awkward Girls, me & my good friend Katie, Jenny of Modern Modest Beauty & her cute daughter Morgan)

So basically I won a giveaway on Awkward Girls to attend a Girl's Day Out at Fashion Place Mall in celebration of their 40 year anniversary. I got to bring a guest and we all got a gift card, tote bag full of samples and and free lunch! We ate at Red Rock, where I enjoyed a delicious dish of Sweet Potato Cannelloni (which I couldn't pronounce), and then shopped to our heart's content!

This was my first time really meeting any other bloggers in real life and I'd say it was a successful well-spent afternoon! I had a really great time (and it wasn't awkward at all ;) )

P.S. I changed my hair a bit today...can't wait to share it with you all tomorrow!!

Park play date with Paisley

These two cuties had a play date at the park last weekend. They are beginning to notice each other and interact a little more when we get them together these days. I'm looking forward to watching their friendship blossom over the years.

The Liebster Blog Award

Who doesn’t love an award? I received The Liebster Blog Award nomination from my friend Carly of BIG HOUSE, little table. What’s a Liebster Award you ask? Liebster is a German word meaning dearest, and the award is given to up-and-coming bloggers with less than 200 followers who deserve some recognition and support to keep on blogging. Thanks for the nomination Carly!

Here are the rules should you choose to accept:

1. List 11 facts about yourself.

2. Answer the 11 questions given to you.

3. Create 11 new questions for the bloggers you nominate for the award.

4. Choose 5 bloggers with 200 or less followers to nominate.

5. Go to each bloggers page and let them know about the award.

6. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.

Eleven facts about me:

1) I married a Texan (shhh!)!

2) I'm a born and raised Arkansan, and I'll live here until I die, period.

3) I'm a bit OCD... I can't sleep (or even relax) if my house is a mess, I only buy organic, and we're currently purging our kitchen of plastics.

4) I'm afraid of flying, but I love to travel, so I do it anyway with the help of several Zanax.

5) I'm Elliott's mom, and we'd like 3 more if the Lord will allow it.

6) Diet Coke is my weakness. I seriously can't give it up even though I know it's terrible for me!

7) I'm a college graduate, but I choose to do hair, because I love it, and I refuse to do something I don't love.

8) We own our own salon.

9) I'm not a natural blond. You would have never guessed, right? My God given color is a light brown, but you'll never see it.  What kind of hairdresser walks around without color on her hair? :)

10) My Mom is my best (female) friend.

11) I'm a follower of Jesus Christ.

Carly's questions:

Q: If you could have any career in the world, with no limits, what would you be doing?

A: I would own my own salon.  That has been my dream job since I was a kid.  I'm just lucky enough I got to do it.  But, if I couldn't do what I do (and I had the patience to go to medical school), I would be an OBGYN.  I'm amazed by the miracle of pregnancy and childbirth.  It is a beautiful thing.

Q: What would you say is your go-to recipe when you don’t have much time to think about dinner?

A: Tacos! We eat a lot of tacos.

Q: What is your favorite season?

A: Fall.  I love everything about it, the colors, the cool air, the clothes, the food.

Q: If your house was on fire and you only had time to grab 3 things, what would you grab?

A: Elliott, Maggie (our cat), and our photos.
(Gary doesn't need to be grabbed, and Lola lives outside, or they would be on the list too.)

Q: What is your favorite trend about today’s style/fashion and what is your least favorite trend?

A: Favorite: tall boots.  Least favorite: anything with fur on it.

Q: What is your favorite TV Show?

A: Vampire Diaries.

Q: Do you have a favorite makeup product or favorite hair care product?

A: Redken's Tousle Whip.  It's amazing, I just put it in and let my hair air dry.

Q: What is most important to you in life?

A: My family.

Q: What is your favorite piece of jewelry and where did you get it?

A: I'm not much of a jewelry person.  I wear 3 things everyday: my wedding ring, diamond studs my in-laws gave me at my college graduation, and a hand stamped ring with Elliott's name on it (from Box Turtle).

Q: If you could start a non-profit company, funding any cause you wish, what would yours be?

A: One that raised money to help parents with infertility with adoption fees or fertility treatments.  Everyone should have the opportunity to be a parent if they have that desire in their heart.

Q: If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would you choose to live?

A: London!

My questions:

1. What do you want for Christmas?
2. Who do you think will win the presidential election?
3. How did you choose your pet or child's name?
4. What food do you most look forward to eating on Thanksgiving?
5. What's your greatest accomplishment?
6. Where are you dreaming of taking your next vacation?
7. What is your favorite book or movie from your childhood?
8. What's your favorite comfort food?
9. Where would you rather move San Fransisco or NYC?
10. What new music are you enjoying lately?
11. How would you describe your style?

My nominees:

1. Meghan of We are Lobsters
2. Jessica of My Bag of Sunshine
3. Colleen of Meet the Sullivans
4. Emily of Cason Crew
5. Holly of The Morrisons

Hope this helped show a little more of who I am.  I'm looking forward to reading your [my nominees] responses.  We can all use a little encouragement to keep up with our blogs, so spread the love.

Heirloom Coat

Happy Friday!! I'm finally back to my regular outfit posting and it's good to be back! Last week my sweet Hubby surprised me and brought home this great vintage coat for me. His Grandmother died earlier this year (I dedicated a post to her here) and his family was going through some of her stuff when they came across this coat with the tags still attached. Knowing my love for vintage they thought I might like it and..... I LOVE it! It makes it extra special to have something of hers.

I love the pop of the bright orange and the big, oversized collar. It's a bit of an oversized fit all around on me but I think it works. Oversized is a thing right now, right? And it definitely works on a comfort level.

So life has been pretty awesome lately... I have tons of good news to share! First, I landed a full-time job at the bank I work at! I've been wanting to go full-time for a while (why shouldn't I work more when my Hubby's away at work anyway?) Last week a position opened up and I applied. What do you know, the next day they interviewed and hired me!! It all happened so fast!!

I also had the AWESOME opportunity to meet up with Lauren and Madison of Awkward Girls last weekend for Girl's Day Out at Fashion Place Mall. I won a giveaway on their blog and got to bring a friend shopping and to lunch! We also got a gift card and a tote bag full of free samples. It was seriously SO fun and I picked up a few cute items at J.Crew and H&M.

I already mentioned our new collaborative blog, Flock Together a couple posts ago, but I'm totally excited about it so I'll mention it again! We have a dozen girls and we're all going to be swapping clothes (what could be funner?!) and posting what each girl did with the same piece. I'll let you know when my intro post goes up but feel free to check out the other cute girls right now!
