We finally got some rain here! The gloomy skies hanging over central Arkansas all weekend made it feel like fall might finally be within reach. It got me in the mood to get my porch ready for a change in season, I even went the extra mile and made my own burlap wrapped wreath.
We made a day trip to Hot Springs on Saturday to watch the Hog's first SEC game of the season with the fam over a meal of soup and cornbread. We then spent the remainder of our weekend mourning the Razorback's embarrassing shutout against Alabama. Not even the Cowboys could lift Gary's spirit, as they too suffered an embarrassing loss to Seattle on Sunday. Elliott, however, was easily cheered up after a shopping spree at Toys-R-Us, where we purchased several "big boy" toys, including the classic little pull-along telephone we all had growing up (even though he'll likely never know a phone with a dial on it).
Looking forward to some cooler weather and the official start of fall this week. I may have to celebrate with a Pumpkin Spice Latte...
