October Craft Night.

You probably thought my blog was going to be stuck on the "fall decor" post for another 9 months, huh?  Nope, I'm still here, just been busy.

This morning Laura and I stopped by the annual "Inviting Company" paper sale.  It was my first time going, and it was out of control! We did get some cute things on the cheap though, including napkins and cups for the salon's fall open house Monday night (Oct. 11th drop in from 5-8, do come!).

Tonight we had craft night.  This time we met at our house. I cooked chili in the crock pot, using a  recipe I found online, and we painted pumpkins.  There isn't much to explain, the creativity just flowed, and here is what we produced:

Kate's creative hands at work.

Amanda's pumpkin.

My pumpkin (w/Kate's help).

Another Kate creation, she's so good!

Laura decided to carve her pumpkin, loved it!

In other news:  We have been cleaning and sealing the grout in our kitchen (before and after pics, coming soon!), I am training steadily for the half marathon on the 23rd- made it to 9 miles on Monday, and  we FINALLY booked the trip we have been dreaming of taking for 3 years- Europe here we come- April 2011!

TGIF!

Jewelry Board.

We had a great week here in the Grant house.  Some of the highlights included:

-Putting out my fall decor.
-Cooler weather and a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
-The season premier of Glee!
-Maggie feeling better.
-Making it to 7 miles on my half training.
-Small group at church.
-Hunter and Kirt staying the night with us.
-Dinner with Laura and Caleb.
-Watching the Hogs hang in there against the #1 team in the nation.
-Family time (John Allen came home).
-Vampire Diaries.

Laura also came over Friday night and helped me make this board to hang my jewelry on:

I feel so much more organized now that my jewelry is not tangled in a ball in my closet! You too can do this yourself. All you need is a piece of wood, fabric, a staple gun, some knobs and drawer pulls, and a drill.

Looking forward to getting some things accomplished around the house today before church.  Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

"Craft Night"

The weather outside is wonderful! I've had 3 great runs this week. I'm finally able to get excited about the half marathon. Not gonna lie, last week I was a little worried, but this week, I'm feeling more confident.

The next few weeks are probably the slowest work weeks for the hairdresser.  Everyone is getting back in the routine of school and work after summer break, so our days aren't quite as hectic... at least until late October/early November.

After work tonight, Kate, Laura, Jill, and I had our monthly "craft night!"  We had pizza, salad and white wine, and we made beaded wine glasses.  Mine are cobalt blue with yellow, red, and blue beads.  Can I just say I am so lucky to work with two of my very best friends every day?  I just love them, and I love my new wine glasses! What do you think?
